I’m returning to where my recovery journey through running first began — Rondebosch Common. On 12 July 2026, I’ll be running 27 laps (67.5km total), symbolizing Nelson Mandela’s 27 years in prison and reflecting my own journey from 25 years of addiction to now being 6 years sober.

I'm return to where my recovery journey through running first began — Rondebosch Common.
On Sunday, 12 July 2026, I will complete 27 laps (67.5km total), symbolizing Nelson Mandela’s 27 years in prison and reflecting my own journey from 25 years of addiction to now being 6 years sober.
This run forms part of the larger “Running a Smile Through South Africa” campaign — a 2,000km endurance run from Cape Town to Namibia aimed at creating awareness around addiction recovery, gender-based violence (GBV), youth hopelessness, and community transformation.
More than just a training run, this is about showing people that no matter where they come from or what they’ve been through, change is possible.
Everyone is welcome to join for a lap, a few laps, or simply come support and be part of something meaningful.
